Qualcomm acquires Sequans IoT 4G technologyQualcomm said in a statement on its official website that it will acquire Sequans Communications' 4G IoT technology through its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and has reached a final agreement. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The acquisition includes certain employees, assets and licenses. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval from French regulators. According to reports, Sequans was founded in 2003 and is a fabless semiconductor company that specializes in the design and development of chipsets and modules for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. It offers a wide range of 5G/4G cellular category products, including 5G NR, Cat 4, Cat 1 and LTE-M/NB-IoT, which can provide reliable IoT wireless connections without gateways. The company has mature expertise in low-power wireless devices, which is critical to supporting large-scale IoT applications running at low data rates.
