Global semiconductor sales in July reached US$51.3 billion, up 18.7% year-on-yearAccording to the latest data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global semiconductor industry sales increased significantly in July, reaching US$51.3 billion that month, an increase of 18.7% from US$43.2 billion in the same period last year and 2.7% from US$50 billion in the previous month. SIA accounts for 99% of the US semiconductor industry and nearly two-thirds of non-US chip companies by revenue. The monthly sales released by SIA are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Organization (WSTS) and represent a three-month moving average. The AI wave has pushed the global semiconductor industry out of the "gloom" and ushered in a more obvious growth. Looking at the development pattern of the global semiconductor industry, the development rhythm of each region is different. Among them, the chip sales in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and other regions in July led the market recovery with double-digit growth, while sales in Japan and the European Union declined. John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA said: "The global semiconductor market continued to grow significantly year-on-year in July, and monthly sales increased month-on-month for the fourth consecutive month. The American market grew particularly strongly in July, with sales increasing by 40.1% year-on-year." By region, sales in the Americas (40.1%), China (19.5%) and Asia-Pacific/all other regions (16.7%) all increased in July, but sales in Japan (-0.8%) and Europe (-12.0%) declined. SIA expects global semiconductor industry sales in August to likely be below seasonal trends. |
